The feedback to the first poetry slam episode was overwhelming! We are bringing it back one more time, (for now), so get your hands on this episode ASAP. We look at a relatively new poem called "Do you Live your Dash?" by Linda Ellis, (the text and link to the official page follow at the end of this post). I had no idea there was such a cottage industry devoted to this little poem. It is nice, but is it an all-time classic for the new millennium? Will this be read alongside "Ode on a Grecian Urn"? I leave it to the Listenership to decide.
Also, we do some cross promotion for brother podcast "TandM's Voices", with their first ever promo on RadioFreeG. The "M" of TandM actually suggested the poem for discussion. And of course, more of Superproducer MUMBLES! What are you waiting for? Get listening now!

I APOLOGISE FOR USING THE FULL TEXT OF THE POEM WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT. I AM NOT OPERATING THIS BLOG FOR FINANCIAL GAIN, NOR AM I CLAIMING TO AUTHOR THE POEM OR SELL ITEMS RELATED TO THE POEM ITSELF. I THOUGHT PROPER CITATION AND LINKS TO THE ORIGINATING SITE, STILL AVAILABLE AT THE TOP OF THIS PARAGRAPH, SHOWED I WANTED TO SIMPLY SHARE THIS POEM AND GIVE FULL CREDIT TO THE AUTHOR.
THIS IS A WONDERFUL POEM, AND I WAS TRYING TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD WHILE DIRECTING TRAFFIC, BUSINESS, AND RECOGNITION TO THE OWNER OF THIS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. I DID NOT USE THE POEM IN ANY COMMERCIAL WAY, AND SIMPLY COMMENTED ON THE GOOD I SAW, AND FELT IN THIS MARVELOUS PIECE OF WORK..
AGAIN, I APOLOGIZE.
I ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO HEAD TO THE ORIGINATING WEBSITE, EXPERIENCE THE POEM FOR YOURSELVES, AND RECOGNIZE THAT MS. ELLIS, AND/OR THOSE THAT WORK ON HER BEHALF, HAVE NOW BECOME A PART OF MY "dash".
I AM PROUD OF EVERYTHING I PUT MY NAME TO - EVERYTHING I CREATE ON THIS SITE FOR MY READERS AND LISTENERS. I AM NOW PART OF THE "dash" OF THIS VERY POEM ITSELF, BUT WILL THOSE MENTIONED ABOVE BE PROUD OF THE WAY THEY TREATED ME?
I WAS NOT 100% IN THE WRONG TO USE YOUR MATERIAL WITHOUT WRITTEN CONSENT.
ARE YOU 100% RIGHT TO FORCE ME TO ALTER THIS POSTING?
HOW Do You Live Your Dash?]
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Once again it seems that the little guy is getting screwed. A faithful member of the Listenrship provided some interesting details on copyright "legalese", his comments are in one of the comments to the post, but i will put them on display for you here:
"Time to review copyright law and fair use:
http://fairuse.stanford.edu/
http://www.writersdigest.com
Section 107 of the Copyright Act states that "the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies ..., for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching ..., scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright." "
So you see, we have someone on a POWER TRIP looking on the net, TROLLING the net looking to pick a fight with one lone voice shouting in the wilderness about his views of the World. I'm an easy target, I don't have a legal team, and I'm at the mercy of this anonymous FINGER-WAGGING because I don't want my post taken away or my blog shut down. The poem, "Do You Live Your Dash?", speaks to the very core of the fleeting human experience on this planet. I try to share that, at no personal gain except the knowledge that I'm helping spread some thought-provoking contemporary words into the lives of those that MAY never hear this excellent rumination on the human condition - and I get blasted for doing it. Where's the Justice in that?
I hope you're happy, whomever you are. You have tried to STEAL the joy of POETRY from the World. You have tried to silence the lone voice in the wilderness, and he is down to only a faint breath of life. This blog will survive you, and the art of poetry, of saying one thing and meaning at LEAST one thing more, WILL continue without your stamp of approval. You have proven that the only Justice available is the Justice that one can afford. I'll tell you this - If I had my own legal department I'd make an example of this, and you, and your TERRIBLE ATTITUDE TOWARDS SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY LIKES YOUR PRODUCT AND WANTS TO RECOMMEND IT TO OTHER PEOPLE! IT PAINS ME TO COMPARE POETRY TO SOME MARKETABLE COMMODITY, BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE THE ONLY BASE LANGUAGE YOU, (WHOMEVER YOU HAPPEN TO BE), ARE CAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING!
You WIN.
The lone voice in the wilderness is one again made to resemble the MAD, and as such easily dismissed. The POEM is GONE. Enjoy your Pyrrhic victory.]

Hey man, another fan-f**kn-tstic show. Umm, but it was me who mentioned the "Dash" poem.
:(
I guess it's hard to keep track with all the fan mail.
Now do I have to sleep with you?
Wait a second - it was you that mentioned the poem? You sound A LOT like Magnum. Sleeping with the host is for chicks only, but the offer is appreciated.
Thanks for the plug!
Tito
As long as I get some good 30 second promos to play, I'll keep putting them in the show, as long as they come from a good show like TandM.

Was your use commercial or non-commercial? Did they send you a DMCA notice?

Anonymous, thank you for the passion you express at this situation.
However, this is not the time to fly off the handle and accuse people of placing things in their behinds.
I am upset by this development, and wish I had my own legal department to fight this just so I could make a public case and stop people from living in fear of being sued. If you download VOLUMES of music, pirate THOUSANDS of DVDs, THEN you should live in fear of the rights-holder.
But being a little guy like me, trying to promote something he likes, doing FREE ADVERTISING for the "people" who own this poem - I just can't see why they would even waste time on my little corner of the Internet with no attempt at personal contact. Only a blunt hammer to the head screaming
"NO! THIS IS NOT YOURS! STOP NOW!"
On second thought Anonymous, maybe you're onto something.
